Whether individuals have an interest in applying to programs in computer science or psychology, attending graduate school fairs and similar events can be a wise move.
At graduate fairs and information sessions, prospective students have an opportunity to learn more about advanced degree programs, interact with school representatives and receive answers to many of their questions. Here are a few upcoming events future graduate students may be interested in attending.
Idealist Grad Fairs
Nonprofit Action Without Borders' Web site idealist.org helps connect people with career opportunities with other nonprofit organizations. Idealist also organizes graduate school fairs around the country.
According to the Web site, Idealist Grad Fairs are free to the public and highlight graduate programs that will help students make a difference in their careers. Several events are planned for this fall in some of the nation's biggest cities.
Idealist comes to New York City September 22, Philadelphia September 23 and Boston September 29. October features stops in such cities as New Orleans and Chicago, while Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles will all host fairs in November. If individuals have an interest in working in the fields of environmental science, public administration, social work or theology, then a visit to one of these events may be in order.
2014 APSA Graduate School Information Fair
Some events focus on a specific type of graduate education. This is the case with the American Political Science Association's 2014 APSA Graduate School Information Fair, which will be held August 30.
Naturally, this information fair will focus on graduate programs in political science, according to the APSA's Web site. During the event, attendees can speak to representatives from political science doctoral programs.
Various school fairs
Then, there are the graduate school events that will be put on by various colleges and universities. For example, the University of Illinois at Chicago will host the Chicago Graduate and Professional School Fair October 2, 2014. UIC's Web site states that representatives from over 200 schools will be on hand to speak to prospective students.
Also in October, three Maine-based schools will host the 2014 Annual Graduate and Professional School Fair. According to Bates College's Web site, Bowdoin College and Colby College will help Bates host this event, which will take place October 6 and 7.
