An MPA can lead to an array of careers

Some students may assume that earning a graduate degree in a specific field will leave them confined to one type of career. This is not always the case, as evidenced by the Master of Public Administration degree. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states that medical and health services manager, political scientist and top executive are all professions that can be pursued after earning an MPA degree.

For this reason, individuals who are interested in having the option of entering into any of these professions should find a graduate school that offers a Public Administration program they find appealing. Marshall University in West Virginia recently launched its new MPA program, WOWK reported. The degree should interest students who seek a flexible way of earning an MPA without sacrificing quality.

"The College of Business and the departments of political science, geography, leadership studies, sociology and psychology are combining their expertise to offer students in the Tri-State region a flexible program, with courses taught in Huntington, South Charleston and online," Marybeth Beller, the program's director, told the news source.

According to the university's Web site, MPA students can specialize their degree in general administration policy, nonprofit management or urban governance, whether they take classes on campus or over the Internet.
