A SMALL COLLEGE WITH A BIG VOICE IN EDUCATION
For nearly a century, Bank Street College of Education has been a leader in exceptional teacher education and a powerful force for innovation and best practices in teaching and educational leadership. Bank Street is committed to providing outstanding master?s degree programs for graduate students through extensive supervised fieldwork, advisement, small class sizes, and active coursework. The programs integrate direct experience with children, teachers, and families with theoretical material and with observation and reflection.
The Graduate School prepares adults for professional work in schools and in other settings where the focus is on teaching, leading, and child advocacy. Bank Street College is accredited by the Regents Accreditation of Teacher Education (RATE) and by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Both the National Commission on Teaching and America?s Future and the foundations supporting the Teachers for a New Era initiative have hailed Bank Street?s Graduate School for demonstrating exemplary teacher preparation.
Our credo demands ethical standards as well as scientific attitudes. Our work is based on the faith that human beings can improve the society they have created.
- Lucy Sprague Mitchell, Founder of Bank Street College
