DOCTORAL PROGRAMS
Clinical Psychology (PsyD)
The Clinical Psychology doctorate program in Chicago is based on a practitioner/scholar model of training, which focuses on teaching students a broad knowledge of scientific and theoretical clinical psychology principles they can apply to a variety of clinical disorders in the diverse populations they will encounter in their professional practices. A Child and Adolescent track is offered.
Applied Behavior Analysis (PsyD)
Find an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) doctoral program with a curriculum that includes classroom, real-world experience and internships. Students enrolled in the Psy.D. applied behavior analysis programs will be provided specialization options that include neurology, research methods, performance technologies, biological and institutional issues in behavior, as well as other specializations.
Clinical Forensic Psychology (PsyD)
The Forensic Psychology graduate school is the only one of its kind in the Midwest. Students will learn from experienced faculty in a practitioner-focused curriculum and obtain the mastery needed to effectively use psychology in legal and public policy arenas in an ethical, academically informed, and research-based manner. Concentrations include: Child Protection, Sex Offenders, or Corrections.
Business Psychology (PsyD)
Offered in Los Angeles and Chicago. Chicago program is offered in a traditional weekday format as well as a blended format that combines online coursework with on-campus weekend classes. This is a three to five year program. Students may enter the program with either a bachelor?s or master?s degree.
Curriculum integrates industrial and organizational psychology, clinical psychology, and business coursework, preparing graduates to assume high-level responsibilities in today?s global, multicultural business environment. Students gain advanced knowledge of theory as well as application related to rightsizings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic repositioning, project management, change consultation, and executive succession planning. Students benefit from exceptional theoretical classroom training coupled with a broad range of real-world learning opportunities, including two supervised internships and an applied dissertation. Students also benefit from an innovative and uniquely supportive dissertation model, ensuring that they reach key milestones in a timely fashion. Students take three courses (spread over three semesters and entirely one-on-one with their faculty supervisors) during which they complete a dissertation proposal, dissertation draft, and then the final dissertation and oral defense.
Chicago students choose from two specialized tracks:
1. The I/O Track provides students with a broad foundation in the discipline of I/O psychology, equipping graduates with essential assessment, intervention, and consultative skills to help leaders and organizations solve problems, enhance performance, and manage the complexities of today's work environment.
2. The Consulting Track prepares students to apply the principles of business psychology in consulting environments, helping to improve individual, group, and organizational functioning in both for-profit and not-for-profit settings.
International Psychology (PhD)
The PhD in International Psychology is a three year, post-master?s program offered in a unique format tailored to the needs of busy working professionals. Students take one course at a time, progressing through the program in a cohort. The program is particularly appropriate for professionals who work or desire to work for multinational corporations, international non-governmental organizations, intergovernmental organizations (e.g. UN organizations), governmental agencies, and faith based organizations with international missions. Graduates are equipped with advanced research and program evaluation skills coupled with a rich appreciation for the individual and group consequences of global events?preparing them to apply psychological principles in the development of policy; assist individuals and organizations with understanding and collaborating with diverse cultural populations and all levels of international organizations and functional systems; and design and evaluate the efficacy of international programs.
Organizational Leadership (PhD).
Chicago program is offered in a unique and convenient format in which students take a combination of online courses and intensive weekend classes. Online students take one or two online courses at a time and progress through the program in a ?cohort? fashion (i.e., with the same group of fellow students in each of their classes for the duration of the program). Online students also engaged in two brief residencies (roughly three and a half days each) at the Chicago campus?providing an opportunity for face-to-face interaction and networking with fellow students from around the globe who bring a wealth of diverse leadership experiences and perspectives. At the first residency, which occurs during year one of the program, students meet with their personal faculty mentor and engage in focused seminars aimed at helping them formulate their dissertation topics and prepare for the research process. At the second residency which takes place in year three, students focus on completing their dissertations and associated processes.
Chicago and Grayslake program focuses on ?21st century leadership,? preparing graduates for the rapid pace of change in today?s organizations. Students gain a rich understanding of traditional theories of leadership and organizational effectiveness, as well as forward-looking perspectives related to globalization; ethics; diversity and multi-generational workforces; the impact of technology on work and workers; organizational design, including teams and teamwork; retaining and developing workforces; and managing organizational change.
Online program includes coursework in leadership, research, ethics, interpersonal dynamics, and a range of electives to support each student?s unique career goals?equipping graduates to apply the principles of psychology and leadership theory in a broad range of settings, to more effectively lead individuals and organizations to success. Graduates are prepared to select, implement, and manage appropriate leadership methodologies to meet individual, group and organizational needs in non-profit, for-profit, and pastoral settings.
MASTERS & EDUCATIONAL SPECIALIST PROGRAMS
School Psychology (EdS)
The educational specialist degree prepares graduates to help students, teachers, administrators, and parents overcome psychological obstacles to learning and personal development. Graduates filling the high demand for trained school psychology professionals will be able to effectively help with educational obstacles such as learning disabilities, family disruptions, and mental health issues.
Clinical Psychology, Counseling Specialization (MA)
Students enrolled in the Clinical Psychology programs with a specialization in counseling will gain the knowledge and develop the skills they need to become outstanding mental health counselors. Graduates of the Clinical Psychology Counseling programs work in a variety of areas including hospitals, substance abuse programs, private practices, and other fields. Concentrations include: Child and Adolescent Treatment, Health Psychology, Latino Mental Health, Supervision and Leadership in Community Mental Health, Treatment of Addiction Disorders, and Generalist.
Clinical Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis Specialization (MA)
Learn the theoretical frameworks and scientific bases of ABA clinical work with the Applied Behavior Analysis masters program. Graduates will also develop skills that will be beneficial to their professional practices such as the ability to appropriately determine the cause(s) of problem behavior, develop effective interventions, and properly assess outcomes.
Industrial and Organizational Psychology (MA)
Designed for students working in fields such as human resources, training and development, consulting, professional administration, or marketing, who wish to advance their current careers by learning strategies for improving individual and group performance. Students learn techniques for improving personnel selection and development processes, assessing organizational weaknesses and designing appropriate interventions, resolving conflict, and understanding cross-cultural intelligence.
