GRADUATE ADMISSIONS CONTACTS
Joke? Ogundiran, Director of Admissions
Established in the heart of the nation?s capital in 1821, GW provides innovative programs in more than 200 fields of study, including graduate certificate, master?s, and doctoral programs. Under the guidance of a world-renowned faculty, you will explore both theory and practice in courses that prepare you to meet the needs of an increasingly complex society.
Diversity is a crucial part of the School of Nursing community in order to prepare students to work more effectively with peers and patients from varied backgrounds. The curriculum contains a course entitled "The Practice of Medicine" (POM). This course spans all four years, allowing students to immediately begin clinical training during the first two years while studying the basic sciences. The Office of Student Opportunities serves as a clearinghouse for various research, scholarships, awards, conferences, and study abroad opportunities. The Track Program offers various students the opportunity to choose a program of study outside the standard curriculum.
In addition, the School of Nursing aims to challenge students ? empowering them to express their creativity and individual styles of learning ? while equipping them with a sound foundation that will expertly prepare them to become leaders in the field. The Programs cater to those who have a passion for health care, a commitment to community service and a drive to succeed. With on-campus and distance education options, and a multitude of certificate, bachelor?s, master?s and doctoral programs, GW offers just the flexibility students need to pursue their goals. Its students have access to some of the world?s best clinical facilities, such as National Rehabilitation Hospital, Children?s National Medical Center and the DC Veterans Administration. They also have opportunities to participate in activities on Capitol Hill, including health fairs, where they learn to combine their skills of health promotion and advocacy, or to intern at government institutions, such as the FDA.
