Environmental engineers may feel more confident with a background in business
| Monday, January 30, 2012 |
As jobs become more complex, some students may feel that having graduate degrees in two different subjects will better prepare them for their field of interest.
Today’s students may have an easier time finding dual degree programs that fit their professional needs as schools continue to launch these programs. Johns Hopkins University in Maryland is now offering a program that allows students to earn a Master of Environmental Engineering and an MBA simultaneously, The Gazette reported.
The two degrees will be offered through the university’s Whiting School of Engineering and Carey Business School. Through this program, university officials hope to equip environmental engineering professionals with the advanced business skills they need in their careers, according to the news source.
Students who enroll in this option can pair their MBA with a Master of Science in Environmental Planning and Management; Environmental Engineering and Science, or Environmental Engineering within the university’s Engineering for Professionals program.
According to CNN, environmental engineer was one of the top 10 jobs in America for 2011. The news source assigned letter grades to the profession, including an A for flexibility, a B for personal satisfaction and another B for the job’s benefit to society.
