Graduate teaching students may be eligible for financial aid
| Wednesday, August 25, 2010 |
Educators who wish to boost their careers without interrupting full-time employment may want to consider enrolling in an online graduate school. In addition to flexible scheduling options, these institutions often offer tuition assistance to master's degree seekers.
For instance, the University of Scranton recently opened the application process for teacher education scholarships, according to a press release from school officials. These financial aid packages will be available to first-time University of Scranton students who are pursuing one of the college's two online master's in education degrees.
The awards will be equivalent to 25 percent of total tuition costs. Winners who are studying curriculum and instruction at the graduate school will receive at least $3,960 each, and educational administration degree seekers will receive $4,290 at minimum. The scholarships will be adjusted in the event of tuition increases.
Applicants must show proof of a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from their undergraduate studies. Qualified candidates should submit an essay detailing their impact on the lives of others along with a letter of recommendation.
