 GRADUATE TEST TAKING

Revised GMAT to be released in June 2012

Friday, December 09, 2011
While many business schools now accept Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, a number of colleges and universities still ask applicants to submit their results for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).

However, come June 2012, the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) will roll out a revised version of the GMAT, according to the GMAC Web site. The updated assessment will feature an integrated reasoning section that is designed to measure skills required for graduate management students.

According to GMAC, prospective students who take the test will have to evaluate complex data from multiple sources in new formats. GMAT scores for this section will provide a sense of how easily test takers can synthesize and evaluate information from different types of sources. Additionally, results will show how well individuals can organize information and use it to solve problems.

Registration for the GMAT begins this month. As a result, some test preparation experts feel that several prospective students will rush to take the assessment within the next few months to avoid having to take the revised test in June, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Despite the changes to the GMAT’s format, GMAC states that the test will still take three hours and 30 minutes to complete.
