Students can prepare for the MCAT on their mobile device
| Monday, December 19, 2011 |
Most U.S. medical schools require prospective students to submit their scores from the examination known as the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) states.
The MCAT is designed to assess medical school applicants’ knowledge and skills in areas like verbal reasoning, as well as physical and biological sciences, according to AAMC.
There are several ways for prospective students to prepare for this assessment, including a new mobile application from EducareLab. Using the MCAT Biology App, test takers can review more than 1,000 words that they need to know for the test.
These words appear on flashcards that include detailed definitions. Additionally, iPhone and iPad owners can access more than 1,000 quiz questions. Once users have answered a question correctly, the program records it so that test takers can devote more time to areas where they need improvement.
The app also provides a social aspect to studying. Those who benefit from a little competition can share their practice quiz results with their peers on Facebook and Twitter.
With the app installed on their mobile device, prospective medical students can also access everyday tips, as well as other helpful resources.
