The need for health care leaders remains high
| Wednesday, January 18, 2012 |
Some professionals working within the health care industry may want to enroll in graduate school in order to advance to leadership positions, but put off their education goals due to an inability to balance their work with on-campus classes. This is unfortunate, as the need for medical workers will only increase as the nation’s baby boomer population continues to age.
To accommodate these professionals, schools such as The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) are bringing their graduate programs online. Prospective students currently have the chance to submit their applications to the Master of Health Administration program, which will be offered over the Web through the Penn State World Campus in the fall of 2012.
Those who enroll in this distance learning program will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to assume health care management roles in the industry. Courses will focus on what it takes to manage organizations, as well as the U.S. health care system.
The next few years are as good a time as ever for professionals to pursue careers as medical and health services managers, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 16 percent increase in employment opportunities in this field through 2018.
