Those interested in hospitality management now have another way of getting an advanced degree. Georgia State University recently announced its plan to offer a Master of Global Hospitality Management degree for interested students. Offered through the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, the one-year program will be offered completely online, making it accessible to students anywhere in the world.

"In a dynamic, fast-paced industry, we felt it necessary to offer an alternative to the traditional classroom environment," said Debby Cannon, director of the Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality Administration, in a press release.

A degree in this field opens the doors to such careers as lodging managers, food service managers and event planners. Those interested in event planning could reap the benefits of an advanced degree in a booming job market. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the event planning job market is expected to grow 33 percent through 2022 — a rate that's much faster than in other industries. Professionals are typically tasked with the logistical requirements of conventions and exhibitions, including booking locations and dates and arranging travel for attendees and staff, among other tasks. The job typically requires travel which can be a perk for those interested in seeing various cities within the United States and abroad.
