JTS offers a five-year course of intensive study leading to rabbinical ordination and leadership opportunities throughout the Jewish world. Academic resources include a world-class faculty; The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary, the School?s peerless Judaica reserve; and a network of alumni and other mentors who are available to guide and support JTS students. JTS rabbinical students earn an MA degree in their choice of fields?Jewish studies, Jewish education, sacred music, pastoral care, or social work?in addition to ordination. The curriculum includes a rich series of courses in professional skills and several years of supervised field education in the different areas of the rabbinate. JTS offers an intensive Mekhinah preparatory year for applicants who have not had adequate experience in the study of traditional Jewish texts. Fellowships, internship stipends, and financial aid are available for qualified students. Applications are due on December 31; preliminary interviews are held throughout the year.
