Since 1959, LIU Brentwood has served the diverse communities of western Suffolk County with premier undergraduate and graduate programs. The Campus is conveniently located near the Long Island Expressway and boasts ample parking facilities. Library, computer resources and academic advisement services are all available on site. Since LIU Brentwood is primarily a teaching institution, classroom instruction is its top priority. While most faculty members are involved in research, scholarly writing or creative activities appropriate to their discipline, all are measured against the highest standards of teaching excellence. LIU Riverhead offers outstanding programs in teacher education and homeland security management. Undergraduate students may seamlessly transfer into the upper-division undergraduate program, BS Childhood Education. Education students can earn a master's degree in childhood education, teaching students with disabilities, literacy education, earn an advanced certificate in applied behavior analysis or take courses towards additional New York State certifications. The Homeland Security Management Institute, which was designated by an Act of Congress as one of seven institutes nationwide to comprise the DHS National Transportation Security Center of Excellence, offers graduate-level programs in an online format designed to meet the needs of busy homeland security professionals. For more than a quarter of a century, LIU has been offering graduate degree and certificate programs in Rockland and Westchester Counties. LIU Hudson at Rockland is conveniently located near the Palisades Parkway in Orangeburg, N.Y., just two miles from the New Jersey border. LIU Hudson at Westchester is located in a state-of-the art facility on the grounds of Purchase College. Both facilities feature high-tech classrooms designed for adult learners, technologically advanced library facilities, mainframe-networked computer labs and other resources. Both offer personalized instruction delivered by a full-time faculty and adjunct professors drawn from the top ranks of their professions. Most courses are offered during the evenings and weekends to accommodate the busy schedules of working professionals. Students enroll as degree candidates or as non-degree students who wish to pursue graduate courses for personal enrichment or professional advancement. Most classes are held in the late afternoons, in the evenings and on weekends, to meet the scheduling needs of working adults.
