Online degrees are growing in popularity and stature, and the University of Southern California recently announced plans to add to its 80 online programs with the help of a major corporation. According to the school's Web site, Condé Nast and WIRED are working closely with USC to construct a master's degree program for students interested in integrated design, business and technology. The entire program will be offered online, and it will be available for the 2015-2016 academic year.

USC's new degree will combine coursework from the university's school of business, school of fine arts, and school of engineering and provide students with valuable opportunities to apply their knowledge, noted USC. The program's close partnership with Condé Nast and WIRED allows students to participate in residencies at WIRED headquarters and meet with magazine editors and writers. This is incredibly beneficial to students who wish to pursue a career at either corporation, as networking plays a major role in landing a job after graduate school.

Even those who dream of a job outside of the magazine industry can benefit from the close partnership. In a blog on IT World Eric Bloom notes that having notable companies on one's résumé can be extremely advantageous to his or her career. Graduate programs like this one that put students in direct contact with major companies often provide long-lasting benefits for those who take advantage of them.
