Marywood University is a comprehensive Catholic institution with a strong tradition in blending professional and liberal arts education. As a leading provider of graduate education in Northeast Pennsylvania, Marywood offers 34 graduate degree programs, 33 graduate Pennsylvania Department of Education certification programs and three post-master?s programs: PhD, PsyD and EdS.

The University is located on a scenic 115-acre campus in a residential section of Scranton with ample parking facilities for commuting students and easy access to I-81, I-380, I-84 and I-476. Marywood was founded in 1915 by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary as an undergraduate college for women. It expanded its services to graduate education in 1922. The graduate program has been coeducational since its founding.

Through 97 years of service to Northeast Pennsylvania, Marywood has maintained its dual commitments to teaching excellence and Catholic value-centered education. This commitment has positioned the University well to serve professional and personal growth needs in a period of social history stressing public accountability, ethics and professional responsibility in a service economy.

The graduate program is large enough to provide superior educational quality but small enough to provide responsive, caring learning experiences and personal growth opportunities. At Marywood, the quality of faculty?student relationships within and outside the classroom becomes the standard by which educational excellence is measured and encouraged.

Facilities include computer labs, interactive videoconferencing room, radio and television studios, art galleries and studios, 1,100-seat theatre, multimedia theatre, speech and hearing clinic, biofeedback lab, nursing lab, psychology lab, extensive athletic fields, and much more.
