When searching for a graduate school or a specific graduate program, prospective students typically visit a school's Web site to find information on degrees offered. However, this is not the only way individuals can learn about master's programs. Many schools offer special information sessions placing a spotlight on specific programs.

This is the case at High Point University in North Carolina, which will hold an open house focused on its Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management October 22, according to the school's Web site. The event is designed to provide prospective students with an overview of the program, including everything from the admission process to the types of careers graduates can pursue.

"As the only university to offer a nonprofit management master's program in North Carolina, we want to provide the opportunity for others to learn more about this unique program," said Tracy Collum, associate dean of the university's Norcross Graduate School, as quoted by the Web site. "Many individuals have a desire and passion to work in nonprofits and this program affords them the route to make a greater impact through enhanced knowledge with practical implications."

With a master's degree in nonprofit management, individuals may be able to become a social and community service manager, which, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, is expected to see job growth of 27 percent through 2020.
