When teachers enroll in graduate school to pursue an education degree at the master’s level, they are taking a step that can expand the number of career possibilities before them.

With a Master’s in Education, teachers may be able to assume such roles as librarians or education administrators, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, tuition and other costs that come with attending graduate school may stand in the way of these educators and their academic goals.

To aid students living in Winnebago, Illinois, in their pursuit of a master’s degree, the Winnebago County Retired Teachers Association (WCRTA) will offer financial assistance to future educators through several new scholarship opportunities for individuals across various grade levels, the Rockford Register Star reported.

Thanks to the Blanche J. Martin Scholarship Fund, two college seniors who wish to pursue a Master’s in Elementary Education are eligible to receive $3,000 to be applied toward their graduate school costs. Meanwhile, two college graduates who plan to enroll in a Master’s in Teaching Elementary Education are also eligible to receive $3,000.

Those who have an interest in either of these scholarships have until April 15 to apply.
