The University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) is a graduate academic and premier research institution located on a picturesque 365-acre lakeside campus, creating a peaceful atmosphere for study and research. UTSI is world-renowned for its excellent research faculty and facilities, and has the distinction of graduating nine astronauts ? more than any other school or university. UTSI is seeking qualified engineering graduate students in aerospace, aviation systems, computer, electrical, engineering science, industrial & information, mechanical, materials science & engineering, and physics to engage in challenging research and academic work while earning compensation for performing research services that contribute to their thesis or dissertation.
Assistantships for 12-month appointments include waiver of in-state and out-of-state tuition, health insurance, and a stipend (paycheck). Students should have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above to be competitive for receiving assistantships.
UTSI has an online master and doctoral program in Industrial & Information Engineering emphasizing Engineering Management. This online program provides engineers with an education experience balancing technical depth with leadership, project management, financial management, technology transfer, ethical and legal prospectives, team relations, organziation behavior and continuous quality improvement. UTSI also offers an online masters program in Aviation Systems. This program is a unique blend of aerospace engineering, aviation technology, flight science, and flight test engineering and research.
