Show your full potential.
The ETS® Personal Potential Index helps you show graduate and professional programs a more complete picture of your potential for success.
You know you’re more than the sum of your grades, test scores and letters of recommendation. Success at the graduate level also depends on skills that other tests don’t measure — skills like resilience and teamwork. Now there’s a way to show admissions programs that you’ve got what it takes to succeed at the graduate level: The ETS® Personal Potential Index (ETS® PPI).
The first evaluation system of its kind, ETS PPI helps you provide graduate and professional schools with evidence of a broad range of your capabilities, including:
- Knowledge and Creativity
- Communication Skills
- Teamwork
- Resilience
- Planning and Organization
- Ethics and Integrity
Graduate and professional schools have told us these skills are important for success, and an ETS PPI Evaluation Report will help them know you’re up to the challenge.
Convenient and easy to use
The web-based ETS PPI evaluation system is convenient for both you and your evaluators. Here’s how it works:
- First, select evaluators — professors, teaching assistants or supervisors — who can comment on your personal skills and potential for success in graduate or professional school.
- Using the secure online ETS PPI system, your evaluators then rate you on the six personal attributes, and provide an overall evaluation. They also can provide additional comments for each attribute as well as for the overall rating.
- You can then select up to five evaluations for inclusion in the ETS PPI Evaluation Report. Each report contains individual and mean ratings for each of the six attributes, a graphical representation of the ratings, evaluator comments, evaluator contact information and guidance on how to interpret the report.
- ETS creates the evaluation report and sends it directly to the institutions you have chosen.
And, you can track the status of your evaluation requests or order additional reports online at any time.
Available to GRE® General Test registrants at no additional cost
Up to four ETS PPI Evaluation Reports are available free of charge to those who registered for the GRE® General Test on or after May 1, 2009. You may request additional reports for just $20 each. If you registered for the GRE General Test before May 1, 2009, or are not taking the GRE General Test, you can order ETS PPI Evaluation Reports at a cost of $20 per report.
Undecided about graduate or professional school?
That’s okay. No matter where you are in the application process — even if you’re still undecided about attending graduate or professional school — you can add the ETS PPI Evaluation Reports to your admissions portfolio. Each evaluation report remains valid for five years from the time it is created, so when you’re ready to apply, your evaluation reports will be ready, too.
Whether you’re just considering graduate or professional school, or you’ve decided to apply but are still figuring out the process, or you’ve already applied and want to improve your chances for admission, ETS PPI can help you give graduate schools a more complete picture of your potential for success.
