FDU's Graduate Programs in Professional Communications and Forensic Psychology Meet Changing Industry
|
| Fairleigh Dickinson University, NJ |
| |
New Jersey’s Fairleigh Dickinson University has built its reputation around providing career-focused academic programs that respond to the changing needs of a global marketplace. Two of its newest graduate degrees — the MA in Media and Professional Communication and an MA in Forensic Psychology — are excellent examples of this educational mission. Both programs are offered on the University’s Metropolitan Campus, which is located in Teaneck, NJ near New York City.
The MA in Media and Professional Communication prepares students to be strategic thinkers and effective communicators in a variety of fields, from industry and government to non-profit enterprises. This program offers a comprehensive approach to written, digital and visual communications as well as a global, cross-cultural perspective that is essential in today’s diverse workplace. Its faculty includes respected academic scholars and experienced communication practitioners, assuring students of a strong foundation in theory as well as coursework in the latest communication techniques and applications.
FDU created its two-year, 48-credit program in MA in Forensic Psychology to respond to the growing need for professionals in the forensic field. Its courses provide a highly functional terminal degree for students interested in master’s-level forensic jobs in court clinics, penal settings, law enforcement research and forensic psychiatric settings. This multidisciplinary course of study also serves as an excellent springboard for individuals wishing to pursue doctoral studies in psychology or law.
Located just eight miles from the heart of Manhattan, FDU’s Metropolitan Campus links students in both programs to New York City’s rich professional development opportunities, including internships, externships and research. Media and Professional Communication students are encouraged to take advantage of New York’s diverse resources as the communication hub of the world, such as guest lecturers from some of the communication industry’s leading organizations.
Forensic psychology students also have access to Fairleigh Dickinson’s new, state-of-the-art cybercrime lab and can take a forensic science course in the School of Natural Sciences, or select from many course offerings in the School of Criminal Justice.
