DEGREES

M.S.H.S.: Master of Science in Health Science.

The Master of Science in Health Science program at RMUoHP is for bachelor’s prepared individuals who work in various health-related fields, and are passionate about fitness and activity, injury prevention, exercise science and/or strength and conditioning. The program offers two concentrations, Sport Performance and Rehabilitative Science, and is best suited for those who are interested in pursuing an advanced degree online.

The Sport Performance track builds upon the student’s current knowledge of the exercise sciences and strength and conditioning for sports and other activities. The Rehabilitative Science track takes an evidence-based approach to athletic training, physical therapies, injury prevention and recognition in many areas of healthcare.


M.P.A.S.: Master of Physician Assistant Studies.

The Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program at RMUoHP is a dynamic campus-based program with substantial experiential learning components. Students develop knowledge and skills necessary to excel as Physician Assistants, with instruction and training from professors who are experts in their specialties. Learning experiences include classroom, laboratory, and off-site clinical education.

By design, the MPAS program relies on progressive clinical and academic instruction, incorporating technological and clinical advances as well as contemporary educational theory. Critical inquiry and evidence-based practice principles are threaded throughout the coursework. The MPAS program caters to highly motivated students who wish to be active participants in their education.


M.S.S.L.P.: Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology

The medical Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MedSLP) program prepares students to provide comprehensive, evidence-based, client/patient-centered care for the betterment of society, and who are committed to lifelong professional growth and collaborative practice.

MedSLP students will experience at least 25 hours of clinical observation and a minimum of 375 hours of direct and simulated client/patient contact in a broad array of clinical settings. Clinical settings include, but are not limited to: hospitals, clinics, rehab facilities, acute care rehab facilities, public and private schools, long-term acute care facilities, outpatient facilities, and skilled nursing facilities.


D.Sc.: Doctor of Science in Health Science.

The Doctor of Science (DSc) in Health Science program is mostly online and offers six concentration areas in Athletic Training, Clinical Electrophysiology, Health Promotion and Wellness, Human & Sport Performance, Neurologic Rehabilitation, and Pediatric Science. The DSc is an academic terminal degree which can provide opportunities for employment in institutions of higher education, healthcare and research clinics, hospital settings and other healthcare venues.

Each concentration is committed to the development of life-long scholars who can conduct, evaluate, publish, present and integrate research findings into their daily academic agenda and/or clinical practice; act in leadership roles in their discipline and community; provide the highest level of intervention to their patients/clients; and participate in undergraduate and graduate education environments to effectively teach the next generation of evidence-based clinicians, scholars and educators in academic and healthcare programs.

The DSc program is designed to allow clinicians and educators to continue working while pursuing their doctoral degree. Students will come to campus during six of the eight didactic semesters for on-site sessions that last from three to six days. Following the didactic phase, the program culminates with the completion of qualifying exams and a dissertation.


D.N.P.: Doctor of Nursing Practice (Family Nurse Practitioner) & Post-Masters Doctor of Nursing Practice.

The limited-residency graduate nursing programs at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions prepare and support students to further their nursing education to become leaders in their field. The blended learning model provides the flexibility for students to maintain employment while continuing their graduate education.

Prospective students may choose from one degree program- the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, with two tracks, or an FNP certificate program. The DNP degree prepares the graduate nurse to become a leader in clinical practice and a change agent in health care delivery.

The post-baccalaureate Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP/DNP) track focuses on primary health care delivery to families in a variety of settings, and prepares the DNP graduate for a national FNP certification exam.

The post-master’s DNP track, for nurse practitioners or master’s prepared RNs seeking the highest practice degree offered by their profession, provides scholarship and leadership skills to keep ahead of ongoing changes in care protocols and nursing science in health care.

The post-graduate FNP certificate program provides RNs with a previous master’s or doctoral degree in nursing or a related field the focused education required to become an advanced family practice nurse practitioner. The certificate program prepares the graduate for a national FNP certification exam, and does not result in a doctor of nursing practice degree.


O.T.D.: Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy.

Our program is affordable and open to individuals with an entry-level degree in occupational therapy. Our goal is to address the national need for high quality occupational therapy services by providing a new direction in professional education that promotes the scholarship of practice. This four-semester program provides meaningful, obtainable and cost-effective post-professional education to occupational therapists. Through our blended learning model we provide practicing clinicians with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to contribute to occupational therapy becoming a powerful, widely recognized, science-driven and evidence-based profession. Clin.Sc.D.: Doctor of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology.

The purpose of the ClinScD SLP program is to prepare scientifically-trained and clinically-experienced master speech-language pathologists as leaders and change agents by providing broad knowledge of social, political, and economic forces at work in society. Graduates of this program will increase their contribution to healthcare through the knowledge and skills developed through active use and integration of research and concepts of evidenced-based practice, clinical quality improvement, organizational development, leadership and advocacy.

The core and concentration courses are designed to enhance clinical, research, teaching, and leadership skills. The SLP program with its limited-residency model will provide the flexibility for the practitioner to continue professional work obligations during the two year program. The capstone emphasizes application of scientific principles related to the clinical challenges seen in the discipline.
